A survey conducted jointly by Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) and Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG) identified examples of managed aquifer recharge (MAR) practices in different countries of Latin America such as Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Paraguay. These schemes illustrate the application potential of MAR under different social, environmental and economic conditions and address a multitude of societal challenges such as degradation of ecosystems, water security and food security, saltwater intrusion in coastal aquifers etc.
Ten selected examples have been compiled in a brochure where each case study is described in terms of motivation, technical approach, main outcomes, but also challenges and further steps to be taken.
